Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, believes his side can get a positive result from Saturday’s NPFL fixture against perennial rivals, Bendel Insurance.
The two sides will take to the pitch of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, to renew their rivalry in a Matchday two encounter.
Speaking ahead of the top of the bill encounter, the chief tactician of the Ibadan soccer lords, reckons the game will be tough, but is hoping to take advantage of the psychological effect the loss on the continent will take on Insurance.
“It is not going to be an easy match because Insurance are not a push over side. They just lost out on the continental scene.
“Playing on the continent tells you that they must have recruited a continental team, so we expect nothing less than a very tough opposition.
“Sometimes, when a team loses out in a continental competition, you can take advantage of that because the team could be psychologically affected and we hope we can go there and get a positive result from there,” state the Oracle as the gaffer is fondly called
The two teams go into the game coming from the heels of contrasting results as Shooting Stars kick-started their 2023/24 season campaign with a 2-1 win over Plateau United while Insurance gallantly crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup, after narrwly losing to RS Berkane.
It therefore, promises to be a game to behold as the Oluyole Warriors aim to maintain their perfect start to the season, while the coach Monday Odigie tutored Benin Arsenals, hope to bury the memory of the loss on the continent with a positive start on the domestic scene.
The die is cast.
