Oliseh ruled out Super Eagles Job

Former Super Eagles’ skipper, Sunday Oliseh has been effectively ruled out as the next manager of the former African champions, the Super Eagles.

A section of the sporting media, had on Monday, claimed the Belgium based tactician is in line for the job with Vincent Enyeama as goalkeeper trainer and Ogunbote as Assistant coach of the national team but an impeccable source in the football house dismissed the report.

Tribunesport was reliably informed by a top NFF chief that there was nothing like that .

According to the source who chatted with  sportingtribune  on phone Tuesday morning but pleaded not to be mentioned,the speculation was fake adding that the Federation has not even thought of Oliseh but looking at another direction that will put Nigeria Football in good stead.

Also, sportingtribune source in the Ministry of Youth and Sports simply described the speculations as false when contacted.

“That Oliseh will return as the Super Eagles manager is a figment of imagination by some people and it is going to remain so as far as I’m concerned.

“Oliseh is not under consideration for the job. The Nigeria Football Federation and the Sports Ministry are working on something and we shall let the public know when it fully materialise.

“Having missed the World Cup, we are working hard to ensure the Super Eagles return to its prime place both on the continent and globally and also make Nigerians proud once again,” our source who pleaded anonymity stated.

Meanwhile, Oliseh in an interview vowed that he will never coach the Nigeria national team again, given his unpleasant past experience.

“No, I don’t have the intention of ever coaching the [Super] Eagles again,’ Oliseh vowed.

“I loved working with the boys, I love coaching my country, but the atmosphere around it was no longer healthy.

“I didn’t want the job anymore. Health-wise I was not feeling too good; secondly, we were owed salaries. I was spending money on my health and on my team. I just couldn’t die on the job.

“Truth is, we have a foreign coach now and from what I heard and know, he is being paid four times the wages Stephen Keshi and I were paid and these are two players who won trophies for Nigeria.

“I’ve never heard Gernot Rohr complain about wages. Keshi, while he was coaching, was always complaining, when I was coaching for four months, I was unpaid, for six months my assistants were unpaid, so I had to leave the job; we were also being frustrated.”

In 2015, he was appointed as coach of the Super Eagles taking over from another former international Stephen Keshi, who guided the side to clinch the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
