Super Eagles players-Kenneth Omeruo and Uche Agbo on Sunday scored for their respective clubs to boost their chances of making Nigeria’s final 23-squad list for Russia 2018 World Cup.
Chelsea loanee Omeruo playing in the Turkish League got Kasimpasa’s winning goal over Konyaspor in the 90th minute. Omeruo’s compatriot, Samuel Eduok also got on the score sheet for Kasimpasa. He scored in the 12th minute of the game.
In Belgium, Uche Agbo on Sunday scored his first goal for Standard Liege who won 2-0 at KRC Genk, netting his team’s second goal in the 81st minute.
The former Granada CF ace has made 17 appearances in the league for his Belgian club since his transfer from Spain.
The former Flying Eagles has yet to make his official debut for the Super Eagles.
Meanwhile, Daniel Akpeyi was injured in Chippa United’s 0-0 stalemate with Mamelodi Sundowns in Saturday’s South Africa Premier Soccer League encounter.
The 31-year-old received a knock to his neck during a corner kick situation in the 62nd minute.
