Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr is sweating over the fitness of Leganes center back Kenneth Omeruo before his side’s international friendly against Cameroon in Austria on June 4.
The former Chelsea star is one of five central defenders selected in the Super Eagles 31-man provisional squad list, the others being Semi Ajayi, Kevin Akpoguma, Chidozie Awaziem and William Troost-Ekong.
Omeruo faces a race against time to be fit for the glamour friendly against the five-time African champions as he is currently sidelined by a muscle-related injury.

He sustained the injury during the first half of Leganes’ 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano on May 11.
Around the 37th minute mark, Omeruo fell to the ground, put his hand in his thigh and asked to be substituted.
Since then, he has not figured for Leganes, missing games against UD Logroñés and CD Mirandés which has cast doubt over his availability for the friendly.
Rohr didn’t bother naming another central defender Leon Balogun in the provisional squad as the Glasgow Rangers star has been ruled out for the season with a calf injury.
Omeruo is the second most experienced player named in the provisional squad and was a key member of the Super Eagles side that finished third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, going the distance in six of their seven games during the tournament in Egypt.
