Oseni calls for rebranding of Ibadan Tennis Club

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Remi Oseni, has charged the management of 1925 Ibadan Tennis Club (ITC) to invest in creativity and rebranding of the club so as to breathe new life into it.

Speaking at the Club’s Centennial Anniversary and Fund Raising on Saturday, Oseni said there was the need for ITC to revitalise the club and, make it more appealing to current members and attracting new ones.

“For 100 years, the Ibadan Tennis Club has served as a beacon of excellence, promoting not just the sport of tennis but also a lifestyle centered on fitness, health, and community. Your unwavering commitment to fostering an environment where physical activity thrives has positively impacted the social and economic fabric of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. You are not just a club; you are a legacy that inspires generations to lead healthier, more active lives.

“I stand here today, immensely proud of what you have achieved and what you continue to represent.

“I want to admonish the 1925 Tennis Club that the world around us is changing. To thrive in this new landscape, your club must evolve. It is time for the Ibadan Tennis Club to reposition and rejuvenate its service delivery through creativity, rebranding, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

“As a well-established and reputable tennis club in Nigeria, you have a unique opportunity to engage a broader audience youths, women, and VIPs— who can bring new life and energy to your club,” Oseni who also served as chairman of the event said.

Also, chairperson of the event, Mrs Kemi Alao-Akala, said the ITC centennial anniversary was a celebration of sportsmanship.

“History will be kind to the forefathers of the club as they have investing so much to the development of the club,” she noted.

In his remarks, President of the Club, Dr Oladipupo Sule, said: “1925 Ibadan Tennis Club has been a part of its community for a century shaping its identity and contributing to its cultural fabric with a successful community building efforts over a century.”

In his welcome address, Chairman, Centennial Anniversary Planning Committee, Aremo John Adeleke, acknowledged a century of history of their forebears who drew the membership of ITC from a cross section of businessmen and businesswomen and professionals across the entire Southern Region of Nigeria since pre-colonial Nigeria.

Meanwhile, President of Karin Adeyemi Foundation (KAF), Abiodun Adeyemi, has promised to partner the Club while pledge to get a section to upgrade to international standard.
