The election was conducted under the supervision of the national President of SWAN, Honour Sirawoo, a member of national SWAN, Aloy Chukwuemeka, Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State council, Mr Qwazim Akinreti and the Secretary of the union, Odifa Alfred Adebayo.

However, the election did not go without a mild drama prior to the election process when congress members demanded that the Personal Assistant to the SWAN national President, Lekan Ige, must leave the podium where he was seated alongside members of the national excos as he is not recognised by SWAN statute.
