Super Eagles prospect Victor Osimhen could yet feature for Wolfsburg before the end of the current season after it emerged the youngster is making significant progress from the surgery he had on his knee a couple of months ago.
Osimhen, is yet to play for the German side since signing a professional contract in January, as he suffered a knee injury afterwards and went under the knife, and there were fears he may not make his professional debut until next season.
But latest developments have suggested he could be fit enough to be involved for Wolfsburg just before the end of the season.
“Diego Benaglio, Ashkan Dejagah, Ismail Azzaoui and Victor Osimhen are doing well,” Andries Jonker, Wolfsburg manager said ahead of their Bundesliga clash against Hertha Berlin.
“They work hard. That’s why I currently have 25 players on the pitch – when I started it was only 15.”
Osimhen is highly regarded by the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, who has handed him two invitations to the senior national team, even though he is yet to make his debut for the three-time African champions.
He was top scorer as Nigerian won the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2015, and also played for the country’s U20’s, but they failed to qualify for both the Africa U20 Cup of Nations and the FIFA U20 World Cup.
