The President of the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA), Michel Bau has described the bronze medal won by Nigeria’s Mariam Bolaji as historical.
A statement signed by the BCA president and made available to Sporting Tribune on Wednesday in St Denis reads in part, “Today marks a historic milestone for Africa. Mariam Eniola Bolaji has secured the continent’s first-ever Paralympic medal, clinching bronze in the semi-finals against O. Kozyina from Ukraine.
“This groundbreaking achievement not only highlights Mariam’s incredible talent and determination but also represents a proud moment for Africa. Congratulations to Mariam on this historic success.
“We celebrate you and stand united in pride and joy on behalf of the entire African continent!”
