Paul Pogba makes Monaco debut after 811 days out

Paul Pogba’s long road back to professional football reached a major milestone on Saturday as the French midfielder made his AS Monaco debut, stepping onto the pitch for the first time in more than two years.

The former Manchester United and Juventus star made his long-anticipated debut for AS Monaco, coming on late in their Ligue 1 clash which ended in a 4–1 loss to Rennes. The scoreline mattered little because the moment belonged to Pogba.

At 32, Pogba’s comeback is nothing short of remarkable. Once the heartbeat of France’s midfield and one of world football’s brightest stars, his career had been derailed by a brutal combination of injuries and a suspension that kept him out for over two years.

Signing for Monaco in the summer brought tears to his eyes as he spoke about wanting to rebuild his career and start afresh.

After recovering from a minor ankle issue and returning to full training during the international break, Pogba finally received the green light. When he stepped onto the field in the 85th minute.

The applause from the away end, his calm jog onto the pitch, and the shared sense of relief all pointed that Pogba is back.

Recall that  sporting tribune  had earlier reported that Pogba was expected to be included in Monaco’s squad for the Rennes fixture.
