Nigerian philanthropist and sports icon, Ibikunle Ibidapo has donated a pair of reserve bench to the Osogbo township stadium on Saturday.
The donation which was made at the grand finale of the 4th edition of the Ibikunle Ibidapo soccer competition organised by the Olorunda football coaches council attracted many dignitaries from across the country.
Unveiling the reserve bench, Ibidapo said, “I watched almost all the NLO matches and I saw them sitting inside the sun. I didn’t feel okay since I saw it and I just concluded on providing a suitable bench that would be of use for us all.
“I’m so glad for the turn up. I didn’t expect it. I really want the game of football in Osun to be one of the best in Nigeria.”
The philanthropist also presented medals to 1st, 2nd and 3rd best teams in the competition.
Also present at the event is the Osun FA chairman and members of his team and Coach Baruwa Super Eagles goal keeper trainer.
On his part, the Osun state FA chairman, Sola Fanawopo said, “we appreciate Mr Dapo for his support and investments in Osun Football.”
Part of the highlight of the final day was a novelty match between Olorunda football coaches and Osun soccer ambassadors.
Ibidapo Ibikunle Football Championship is a tournament open to the following categories: U-13, U-16, and the free age group from all LG councils in Osun State. The championship is a key initiative spearheaded by philanthropist Ibidapo Ibikunle.
