Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, has disclosed that her choice of celebration after netting Nigeria’s third goal against Australia at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup did not sit well with her father.
The Barcelona Femeni forward, who is from an Islamic background, pulled off her shirt to celebrate her record-breaking goal that earned Nigeria a 3-2 victory over the co-host nation on Thursday.
Her choice of celebration has continued to generate mixed reactions from social media users. While some berate her over the development, others commend her for the act.
Oshoala has, however, taken to her verified Instagram account today to explain that her choice of celebration has been frowned upon by her father.
She explained that life is comprised of different experiences that together shape our existence.
She wrote, “My dad is definitely not happy with my choice of celebration, but then again, Life is a collection of MOMENTS. #Alhamdulilah #Grateful #Moments.”
Commenting on the post, Peter Okoye, one half of the Nigerian music group Psquare, wrote, “Daddy, no vex abeg.”
