Not fewer than 33 tennis players from six different categories at the ongoing 2022 DavNotch National Open Tennis Championship will share from the total prize money of ₦9.28m (Nine Million, Two hundred and eighty thousand naira as the second edition of the competition served-off in Abuja on Friday.
While the winners of the Men Singles and Ladies Singles winners will pocket ₦500,000 each, winners from Men Doubles and Ladies Doubles will smile home with N200,000 each. The Winners from Men and Ladies Singles in WheelChair category are also not left out as they will pick N150,000 each.
As each winner from each category get their prize money, there are provisions for every player to get their money from the first round to the semi-final stages. All  registered players are also entitled to subsidy of N15,000 each.

The monetary prizes apart, winners from the Ladies Singles and WheelChair categories will represent Nigeria in International tournaments.
President, Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Dayo Akindoju, during a media parley at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja on Friday, while  commending the sponsor, DavNotch Limited, assured that the tournament will produce new talents who will represent Nigeria at the international competitions.
“We appreciate DavNotch for sponsoring this competition. This is the second edition and they promised that the sponsorship will last for five years. Champion of Ladies Singles in the maiden edition, Oyinlomo Quadri and winners in the WheelChair Category represented Nigeria in different International tournaments where the country participated for the first time. We believe that those who will represent Nigeria this time will do better,” the NTF President said.

The Director of DavNotch and the sponsor, Emmanuel Ochei, said  the company will continue to sponsor the tourney for the next five years. He added that the aim is to engage positively the Nigerian youth and add values to their lives.
“We had a successful tournament last year and the programme would be sponsored for five years. We want to engage the Nigerian youth positively in area of sports. We hope that more talents will be discovered. The sponsorship is borne out of the passion we have for tennis but not on the value we will get back. It is aimed at helping youth to reach the highest level of their careers.”
The tournament runs through May 6 to May 14, 2022.
