Spanish midfielder Juan Mata has called for patience amongst the Manchester United fans following their opening Premier League win over Leicester City last Friday.
He thanked the Old Trafford faithful for their support as the Red Devils prepare for their trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.
Writing on his personal blog on Monday, Mata exclaimed his love for the English domestic game, as he embarks on his eighth season in the top-flight, and has not only expressed his love for the passionate United fans, but has also heaped praise on the English fan on a general basis.
Sharing his thoughts on juanmata8.com, the 30-year-old, who played 90 minutes in United’s 2-1 win over Leicester last week said, “I enjoy playing in the Premier League a lot. I like the style of play, I like the organisation and above all, I like the atmosphere in the stadiums. I will never get tired of saying it, the support that a player gets here is fantastic, and honestly, you have to be thankful for being able to experience something amazing like this in your career. At the end of the day, football without you all, and without the passion that it brings, it wouldn’t be the sport that we know and love today.”

Mata added that he felt that Friday’s win will give United’s squad confidence to kick on, but was quick to offer an element of caution when discussing the Red Devils’ stars that have returned from the World Cup and have had very little time off in the summer.
“We know that it’s still August, we know that there is a lot to improve on and on top of that we have teammates that haven’t been back involved with the team for long. Patience and calm is needed. We now have a week to prepare for our first away game of the season in Brighton”, added the Spaniard.
