The Argentine manager was annoyed that his wasteful Spurs side had to rely on a late Dele Alli equaliser to take something from the game on Saturday
Mauricio Pochettino called on Tottenham to be more clinical after watching them spurn a host of chances to beat West Brom and go top of the Premier League.
Dele Alli rescued a point for Spurs in a game they dominated but struggled to find a way past the inspired Ben Foster in the hosts’ goal.
Nacer Chadli looked as though he’d won all three points for West Brom against his former side, before Alli struck in the 88th minute to rescue a 1-1 draw.
Pochettino also confirmed that Toby Alderweireld is likely to miss Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Bayer Leverkusen after being stretchered off with a leg injury in the second half.
“I am happy with the performance. It is true we can be a bit more clinical,” Pochettino said.
“The team played very well in the first half and the way we conceded the goal was a disappointment.
“We were a little bit unlucky and Foster was man of the match.
“We have missed the opportunity to get three points. In the same way it was a difficult game and West Brom were very physical.
“When you are better than your opposition for 45 minutes and create six chances, if you don’t score you are in danger in the Premier League. It’s the best league in the world.”
On Alderweireld, Pochettino said: “We need to wait a little bit. He got a knock on his leg and we will see what happens. Now it is very painful.
“It will be very difficult [for him to play against Leverkusen]. Now he’s very painful but we will know in 24 or 48 hours.”
