Pochettino hails Mourinho as ‘one of the greatest managers’

Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Jose Mourinho as “one of the greatest managers in the history of football”.

Tottenham Hotspur claimed a huge three points at Old Trafford on Monday evening, emphatically defeating Manchester United 3-0.

The Portuguese manager is now under intense pressure following back-to-back defeats.

After recording his first win at Old Trafford, Mauricio Pochettino has defended opposition manager Jose Mourinho.

The Argentine spoke about how the former Chelsea manager was a big ‘inspiration’ for him when starting his career as a coach.

His side’s win means that Mourinho’s future at Old Trafford is now under real scrutiny with talk of unrest at the club.

“Of course I respect him, one of the greatest managers in the history of football.

“He was very inspirational to me, I have only a few managers, like Marcelo Bielsa and Mou who inspired me when I started my career.

“We have a job that is so difficult and of course, I have great admiration for him.”

Tottenham Hotspur recorded their first win at Old Trafford since 2014 in emphatic fashion.

Three second-half goals, including a Lucas Moura brace and a Harry Kane header, gave the North London club their third win from three this season.

Kane netted his first goal at Old Trafford with a thumping header from a corner five minutes after the restart.

Lucas then doubled Spurs’ lead less than two minutes later leaving Jose Mourinho’s side in disarray.

The Brazilain rounded off the victory after bursting through United’s defence and lashing the ball past David De Gea.

Tottenham join Chelsea, Watford and Liverpool on nine points after three games.
