The visitors controlled large periods of the first half and appeared on course to take their lead into the interval. However, Poland responded just before the break as Kacper Potulski found the net to bring the hosts level.
With the contest finely balanced at 1-1, both teams returned for the second half searching for a winner.
Chelle introduced Philip Otele for Akor Adams and Semi Ajayi for Emmanuel Fernandez at the restart as Nigeria looked to regain control of proceedings.
The changes helped the Super Eagles push forward, and their efforts were rewarded in the 77th minute when Onuachu converted from the penalty spot to restore Nigeria’s lead.
The goal appeared enough to secure victory for the three-time African champions, who managed the closing stages while limiting Poland’s attacking opportunities.
But with the match heading towards its conclusion, the hosts found a way back. In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Wiśniewski struck with virtually the last kick of the game to make it 2-2 and deny Nigeria victory.
Despite the late setback, the encounter offered useful lessons for Chelle and his players as preparations continue for upcoming competitive fixtures.
For Poland, the result capped a determined fightback after twice trailing, while Nigeria were left to reflect on a match that slipped away in the closing moments.
