PSG eye Osimhen as replacement for Mbappe -Report

There are indications that Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain could go for Napoli star Victor Osimhen to replace Kylian Mbappe should the 2018 World Cup winner leave Parc des Princes.

According to Get French Football News, the Parisians are targeting the Nigeria international to replace Mbappe whose contract expires at the end of the season and has refused to discuss a fresh contract.

Osimhen has been outstanding for Napoli since he joined from Lille two years ago and this season, the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup winner had netted 17 goals with six assists in 29 appearances.

The Partenopeans want €100 million for their talisman, but it should not be an issue for the Paris millionaires, as they have continuously pulled their weight in the transfer market.

Meanwhile, Osimhen has been a target for several Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal, with his representatives demanding £80m for their client.

Manchester United are also linked with Osimhen who has been forced to wear a protective mask following a facial injury late last year.

Osimhen sees his surgery predicament and comeback as a challenge to further prove his talent in the world of soccer.

“From the moment I had my surgery, I read some people saying ‘The season is over for him’,” Osimhen told BBC Sport Africa.

“‘When he comes back, he won’t go head-to-head with a defender’. ‘Even with a mask, he cannot nod the ball’ and stuff like that. Most of all those doubts are actually a motivation to me. Because I know myself and I know the kind of heart that I’ve got. To be able to be back and keep the goals coming is a big thing for me.

“I appreciate people that have worked so hard with me to make sure I’m okay even when I had the surgery and everything. They probably doubted me returning to my best because of the impact the facial incident could’ve had on my mental health.”
