The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has celebrated the Ministry’s medalists in the 2023 Federal Public Service Games (FEPSGA) which was held from 3rd to 13th December 2023 in Minna, Niger State.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abel O. Enitan, decorated the medalists on Monday at the Ministry’s conference room, Federal Secretariat, Phase 1 Abuja.
A statement signed by the deputy director, Information, Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry, Rhoda Ishaku Iliya and made available to Sporting Tribune quoted the permanent secretary as saying that the Ministry’s contingent participated in various games including disability games winning gold, bronze and silver medals. Others are table tennis, quarter-final; handball, semi-final; squash, quarter-final; badminton, quarter-final among others.
According to the permanent secretary, the Ministry had a gold medal in disability special event, two bronze in Chess and two silver in Ayo. Enitan said the Ministry made the 7th position on the overall medals table list at the nationwide games.
The permanent secretary congratulated the medalists for their victory and pledged more support to the sports club to encourage and motivate them to do more. He enjoined the management and staff of the Ministry to join the sports club and win more medals for the Ministry.
He also encouraged the Directors of the Ministry to always participate in the monthly exercise organised by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation for civil servants to keep fit.
Earlier, the chairman of the Ministry’s Sports Club, Adenekan Kazeem, while handing over the medals won by the Ministry, introduced the executive members of the Club and medalists to the Permanent Secretary and the senior management staff. He said the Ministry gave a cash gift of N50,000 to gold medalists, N30,000 to silver and N20,000 to bronze medalists.
He appreciated the support and encouragement by the Permanent Secretary to the Sports Club before and during the event saying the club will continue to make the Ministry proud by winning more medals.
