Chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko has pledged institutional and personal support for the forthcoming Nigerian qualifiers for the 2025 Qatar Open Championships.
Mallam Dikko made the pledge on Wednesday when the leadership of the High-Performance Centre and Sports Leadership Hub (HPCSLH), led by Dr Bob Olukoya, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Abuja.
During the courtesy visit, Mallam Dikko highlighted the important role of the private sector in enhancing the Nigerian sports economy and athlete development and thus appreciated the efforts of the HPCSLH under Dr Olukoya.
He also encouraged other private sector organisations to emulate HPCSLH’s gesture.
While responding, HPCSLH director/coordinator, Dr Bob Olukoya assured that the HPCSLH would see to it that Nigeria’s representatives at the Qatar Open Championships are good ambassadors for the country and indeed win the Qatar Open in Doha which automatically qualifies the winner for the lucrative Qatar Master (part of the DP World tour).
Qualifiers for the 2025 Qatar Open Championships tagged ‘the Sun Open’ will take place from 21st to 24th January 2025 at the Python Golf Club in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The winner and a wild card (to be decided by HPCSLH) automatically qualify for the Qatar Open scheduled for February 2025.
