Potential Manchester United buyers, Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been granted more time to make their bids, following confusion over whether their offers had indeed been submitted by the deadline.
Raine Group, the firm overseeing the sale of the football club, has granted the extension, although no new deadline has been set. The Glazer family, which owns the club, has been considering the possibility of selling the club since November 2021.

According to sources close to Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe, both groups remain committed to making offers. United officials have met with multiple suitors over the past month, including a delegation representing Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe.

Both groups are now expected to submit offers in excess of £5bn, but insiders have said that the Glazers have been holding out for £6bn.
Ratcliffe recently stated that he would not be “pressured into paying over the odds”. If the sale goes through for £5bn or more, it would surpass the current record set when the Denver Broncos were purchased for £3.75bn in 2022.
The eventual sale price for Chelsea was £2.5bn, with an additional £1.75bn pledged for investment.
