Former Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) President Waheed Enitan-Oshodi says the new endorsement deal Nigerian star player Aruna Quadri signed with Premier Lotto Limited (PLL) is capable of uplifting him.
Enitan-Oshodi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja that the deal would help place the player become one of the first 20 players in the world.
NAN reports that the African champion has just signed a 75,000 dollars deal with PLL, popularly known as “Baba Ijebu’’, to aid the player’s preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The deal was signed at the just-concluded International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Men’s World Cup in Liege, Belgium.
“What Premier Lotto are trying to do is to sponsor him, assist him with allowances so that he can gain assess to better coaching and attend more competitions.
“He needs to be competing with the best players in the world regularly, because that is the only way to improve.
“With the kind of talent he has, this deal can make him become one of the first 20 players in the world,” Enitan-Oshodi, who is the immediate-past president of NTTF, said.
Quadri, who is currently world number 36, recently won the ITTF Polish Open championship and was knocked out in the Round of 16 of the ITTF World Cup last week.
