Just in a spate of six months, arch rivals, Ghana again has stopped Nigeria from participating in another major tournament as The Black Galaxies of Ghana best home-based Super Eagles by 5-4 through penalty shoot outs after a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.
The Ghanaian had defeated Nigeria by 2-0 in the first leg at the Cape Coast Stadium during the first leg in Ghana.
With the defeat, the home-based Super Eagles have lost the ticket to the Africa Nations Championship, CHAN 2023 to be hosted by Algeria.
Zulkifilu Muhammed scored Nigeria’s first goal in the 76th minute before Akuneto scored a late goal in 94th minute to drag the match into penalty shootout.
In the resultant penalty kicks, the Ghanaians scored all the five kicks while Nigeria lost one to give the visitor a 5-4 win.
Sporting Tribune  recall that the Black Stars on March 29 this year stopped the senior national football team, the Super Eagles from qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after they held the three time African champions  to a 1-1 draw at the same Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
