Ramos faces four months out as Real Madrid dealt more injury woe

The defender fell heavily in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier and his club face an anxious wait to find out the severity of the problem

Real Madrid’s extensive injury list has claimed a new member as Sergio Ramos looks set to be out for up to a month with a sprained knee.

The centre-back pulled up towards the end of la Roja’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying clash against Albania, and was replaced by debutant Inigo Martinez.

He limped off the pitch without assistance, but Spain head coach Julen Lopetegui suggested after the match that he’d suffered a sprain.

“Sergio Ramos’ injury seems to be a sprain, let’s hope it is nothing too serious,” he told reporters after the game.

If the injury is confirmed, Ramos will join the likes of Marcelo, Casemiro and Luka Modric on the casualty list at the Santiago Bernabeu, as injuries have disrupted a strong start to the season.

The defender, however, appears in good spirits, and joined his team-mates in the dressing room after Sunday’s clash to celebrate the win.
