Real Madrid have the most stable squad in La Liga

Real Madrid’s current squad is the most stable in the Spanish top tier, with the players spending an average of 3.6 years at the club, the highest in the league, joint with Real Sociedad.

Zidane’s Real Madrid have put their history of mass incomings and outgoings at the Santiago Bernabeu behind them, opting for contract renewals which keep the core of the team intact.

That is why, according to ‘AS’, players stay at Los Blancos for an average of 3.6 years, the joint highest period of time alongside Real Sociedad.

During the period of just over three and a half years, Madrid have won a number of important titles, perhaps encouraging players to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu. In the past few weeks Isco, Marcelo, Benzema and Carvajal have all committed their future to the La Liga champions, with more to come in the near future.

Since winning ‘la Décima’ in 2014, the side from the Spanish capital have managed to keep hold of eleven key players: Varane, Marcelo, Ramos, Carvajal, Nacho, Modric, Casemiro, Isco, Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo.

The top five average stays are rounded off by Athletic Bilbao with 3.1 years, then Barcelona and Atletico Madrid with 3 years. The shortest average stays go to Leganes (0.9), Getafe and Alaves (0.8) and Real Betis (0.7).
