Some stakeholders have continued to press Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State to register the winners of the 2024 Prosperity Cup for the Nigerian National League (NNL) ‘s male and female categories.
Rising from their meeting in Yenagoa, the stakeholders under the aegis of Bayelsa Grassroot Sports Development said the call became imperative to showcase the abundant sports talents in the race to the rest of the country.

He added that since the Governor assumed office some years back, he has been able to rewrite the state’s historical history in sporting competition.
According to him, “If the state government can consider this opinion and act on it, Bayelsa state will be equally recognized and represented at the national level,” Akpe said.
Explaining further, he hinted at the benefits of the approach on the development of the state.
“It will foster the spirit of sports in the state,” He remarked.
The Director General also revealed that the state football teams would gain from the approach.
“The action will serve as a medium that provides training and experience for young and aspiring players with adequate and professional training to join the Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens.”
In addition, he exposed the benefits of heeding the motive of the youths.
“The rate of restiveness and apathy of the youths towards sports will reduce to a minimum
The interested and willing youths will also be encouraged to put in more efforts for better recognition and opportunities.”
