Remo Stars on Saturday made history when they won promotion to the Nigeria premier league for the first time.
Remo Stars won 2-0 at COD of Lagos to book their place in next season’s premier league from Division B1 with a game to spare.
The club is coached by former internationals Uche Okagbue and Nduka Ugbade.
Meanwhile, Crown FC, Gombe United and Mighty Jets are among the clubs jostling for promotion to the Nigeria Professional League (NPFL), while Kwara United have missed out.
It’s a straight shootout between Mighty Jets and Katsina United in Division A1.
Jets have 24 points after 13 matches, while Katsina are a point behind and so the team to be promoted will now be decided on the last day of action.
The same is the story in Division A2, where Gombe United are also neck-and-neck with Dreams FC, owned by former Lobi Stars chief Dominic Iorfa.
Gombe are top of the standings on 25 points, while Dreams have 24 points.
Kwara United, under coach John Obuh, have already missed out on a prompt return to the top league as they are a distant third with 20 points.
The race is even fiercer in Division B2 where four teams remain in strong contention – Gateway, Crown, Bayelsa United and ABS FC.
Gateway and Crown have 21 points each with Gateway ahead by virtue of a better goals difference.
Bayelsa United are third with 20 points, while ABS have 19 points.
