Reports: Umtiti too expensive for Arsenal

Reports suggest that Arsenal will not be able to afford a summer move for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.

Recent rumours have linked the French international and World Cup winner with a move to the Premier League, and claim he is keen on a move to North London.

However Goal.com reports that Unai Emery’s side will only have 80 million euros – around £70 million – to spend on transfers this summer.

Umtiti would cost almost all of that, meaning that he is too expensive for Arsenal if they wish to recruit other players.

The 25-year-old player has been injured for most of the season, but is also attracting interest from Manchester United and Italian champions Juventus.

His current club could choose to raise funds after they identified Matthijs De Ligt of Ajax as a target, with Clement Lenglet and Gerard Pique their other senior defenders.
