Super Eagles and Werder Bremen striker, Victor Boniface, has expressed appreciation to Nigerian singer Teni for supporting him during his injury recovery.
The 25-year-old spoke about the difficult period he faced after undergoing surgery earlier this year following a knee injury that disrupted his season.
Boniface had surgery on January 10 after suffering cartilage damage during a Bundesliga game in December 2025. The operation was carried out in Innsbruck, Austria, by Dr Christian Fink after months of knee pain.
The injury forced the forward to cut short his loan spell at Werder Bremen, with the player previously admitting he was putting on a “fake smile” while struggling with the problem.

In a post on his X account, Boniface acknowledged Teni’s support throughout his recovery.
“After my surgery, I know how many times Teni Entertainer call to check on me. Respect,” he wrote.
Teni, whose real name is Teniola Apata, is known for songs including “Case”, “Uyo Meyo” and “Billionaire”.
She gained attention after the release of “Fargin” in 2017 and later won Rookie of the Year at the Headies as well as Best New Artist at the Soundcity MVP Awards in 2018.
In 2022, she received the Member of the Order of the Niger award for her contribution to music and culture in Nigeria.
Boniface has since returned to the matchday squad for Werder Bremen after more than three months out. He was named on the bench during the club’s Bundesliga draw against VfB Stuttgart on April 26 but did not feature in the game.
Werder Bremen coach Daniel Thioune said the club is managing the striker’s “fitness deficit” carefully as he continues his recovery.
Boniface is expected to make appearances from the bench in Bremen’s remaining league games against TSG Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund as the club battles to avoid relegation.
The striker rose to prominence during his time at Bayer Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso in the 2023/24 season. He scored 14 goals and provided eight assists as the club completed an unbeaten domestic campaign and won the league title.
Boniface also won the Rookie of the Season award during that campaign before injuries slowed his progress in recent months.
