Nigeria captain, John Obi Mikel, has paid tribute to his former teammate at Chelsea, John Terry who quit football last Sunday after a successful 23-year playing career.
Terry made 717 appearances for the Blues in his after 22 years and scored 67 goals which makes him the highest scoring defender in the club’s history.
After winning 78 England caps, he made six appearances during a loan spell with Nottingham Forest in 2000, played 36 games for his last club Aston Villa.
Mikel on Instagram writes: ”Oi Georgie mate what a career you’ve had! It has been an honour to work, win and share good old banter with you.
”You are a true Captain and a great Leader, I’m grateful to have been able to learn from you. Enjoy your retirement old boy and good luck in all your future endeavours. @johnterry.26”.
Mikel too made 372 appearances for Chelsea before ending a ten-year romance with the London club in January 2017.
