Rivers Angels have emerged champions of the 2016 Federation Cup after beating Bayelsa Queens 5-3 on penalties in an entertaining final played at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos.
Rafiat Sule got the opener in the 20th minute for the United but Angels’ Osinachi Ohale levelled the scoreline five minutes later.
Both sides were unable to break the deadlock in the second half resulting in penalties for the second successive year.
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, as well as the Lagos government made good their pledges to throw  the gates open.
