Head coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Fatai Amoo, believes their match against Rivers United last Sunday brought the best performance out of his players.
The Oluyole Warriors pipped the Pride of Rivers 2-1 in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match day 6 clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan to end the unbeaten run of the Garden City side this season.
A goal in each half from Sunday Faleye and Jide Apena secured the maximum points for the Ibadan landlords while Lukman Mohammed scored the visitors’ consolatory goal.
Amoo, while speaking after the match, said the encounter proved to be the toughest so far for his charges this season who forced MFM FC of Lagos to a 1-1 draw in their last home game.
“So far, the clash against Rivers United was the toughest for us. We played a very formidable side that have the attributes of experience, doggedness and maturity.”
“Rivers United had not lost any matches prior to today’s [Sunday] loss, which is a good testimony to their pedigree. I’m happy that my players rose to the occasion to stand toe to toe with their opponents.”
“Rivers United actually brought out the best in us as my players showed cohesion and determination in the clash,” said the former Julius Berger FC and Sunshine Stars handler.”
