Ex-Nigeria goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu, says the decision to recall Vincent Enyeama to the Super Eagles should be left to the team’s head coach to decide.
Rohr is making moves to have the former national team VICE Captain back into the side but is facing widespread criticism from different quarters.
‘For me, we should be looking at the fresh options like the Spain-based Francis Uzoho. We should be eager to see what he can do.
”I don’t like to join the debates on Enyeama. Whatever position I take does not really matter. What matters is the choice made for the team by Rohr and his technical crew”
Shorunmu who was in goal for Nigeria athe 2002 World Cup in South Korea-Japan added that Rohr had observed Carl Ikeme, Daniel Akpeyi and lately Ezenwa in goal for Nigeria and should be in position to know if recalling Enyeama would be good for the Eagles.
” That is why I said Rohr has to look at Uzoho and make his decision”
It will be recalled that Enyeama succeeded Shorunmu as national team goalkeeper at the final Group game against England at the 2002 World Cup.
Four years after, Shorunmu was among the coaching crew of Nigeria’s contingent to the 2006 Africa Nations Cup in Egypt as goalkeepers’ trainer to Enyeama.
Shorunmu was in the same capacity to Enyeama when Nigeria won the 2013 edition of Afcon in South Africa.
