Rohr unruffled by new contract order

SUPER Eagles’ head coach, Gernot Rohr, says he is yet to be briefed by Nigeria’s football authorities to remain in Abuja and raise national team materials.
Rohr got Nigeria’s job four years ago and in three months, his contract with the Nigerian federation will expire.
Meanwhile, two days ago, the media quoted the President of Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF), Amaju Pinnick as saying that Rohr’s contract renewal depends on the coach’s readiness  to live in Lagos or Abuja and monitor
potential Super Eagles players in the Nigerian Professional Football League, (NPFL).
“I have heard that many times, but nothing discussed on roundtable,” Rohr said on Footmercato on Tuesday.
“There are opinions, there are policies. In this case, we have the board and the technical crew. It is not difficult to discuss. The Federation already have plans for players in the Nigerian League. In Africa, there is a championship (CHAN) which takes care of their development. Infusion is another thing entirely but we all know how clumsy the football calendar is.
“For now, I am talking to the players as the manager of the Nigerian national team on the need to stay safe and keep fit in the midst of the global pandemic.”
Rohr qualified Nigeria to the Russia 2018 World Cup where the Eagles exited in the first round. He also coached the Eagles through the qualifiers of the 2019 Afcon in Egypt.
At the championship proper, the Eagles finished third behind Algeria and Senegal respectively.
