Ronaldo blasts teammate chose Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo has apparently blasted his team-mate because of a comment he made about Lionel Messi.

Young midfielder Federico Valverde, currently on loan at Deportivo La Coruna from Real Madrid, had dealt a blow to Ronaldo’s ego.

The 19-year-old was quizzed on who he thinks is the best player in the world and he opted for fellow South American Messi.

However, word got around to his team-mate Ronaldo who gave him a grilling for his answer.

That is according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, who say the Portugal international was furious with the public comment which hit all of the Spanish headlines this week.

Valverde was quoted as saying: “They are the best players in the world, but I’m staying with Messi.”

However, Don Balon say the Uruguayan has since retracted his opinion following a discussion with Ronaldo.

Valverde moved to clear up his stance on the issue.

“I wanted to clarify a misunderstanding that there were with children on campus,” he said.

“I joke with Federico Cartabia [Deportivo team-mate] and I’m from Madrid and I always fight for Cristiano, who is the best player in the world.

“He demonstrates it day by day and I will always be on the side of Cristiano Ronaldo.”
