Cristiano Ronaldo set an unwanted Champions League record during Real Madrid’s clash with Sporting on Tuesday evening.
The Portugal international returned to his boyhood club having scored a hat-trick to sink Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
But the 31-year-old struggled to find his shooting boots as Zinedine Zidane’s side needed goals from Raphael Varane and Karim Benzema to secure a 2-1 victory.
The match against Sporting was the first time Ronaldo failed to register a shot on target during a Champions League group game for Madrid.
Zidane will be hoping that his star man can find the target in their decider against Borussia Dortmund next month which will determine who finshes top of Group F.
