Ronaldo wants improved wages to take him beyond Neymar and Messi

The Portuguese superstar wants to be the best-paid footballer in the world, and he has requested a new deal from Real Madrid, as revealed by ‘Jugones’.

According to the Spanish program, Cristiano Ronaldo’s current salary is of 21 million euros a year, and the striker’s intention is to earn more than Messi and Neymar, whose annual wages amount to around 40 million euros apiece.

The fact that Mbappe is going to pocket a similar amount to that earned by the Portuguese ace, despite a 15-year gap between both players, has motivated Ronaldo to demand a pay rise.

Ronaldo believes he deserves said raise and hopes Real Madrid will accept. However, the news emerges in the midst of new talk of a potential return to Old Trafford, prompted by the treatment he claims to receive in Spain.

Legal issues and his belief that he is targeted by referees have helped to revived speculation which began at the beginning of the summer.

Ronaldo also feels he is no longer unquestionable in the starting lineup, fearing one of the young talents on Zidane’s side could replace him at any time. A contract renewal would surely help to calm the situation.
