Rudiger set to sign new Chelsea contract

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is set to sign a new contract with the London club in the near future, according to a report on CalcioMercato.

The German centre-back has been in brilliant form this season and has arguably been Chelsea’s best defender so far under Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri is looking to get a number of his star men tied down to the club with new contracts and has already done so with left-back Marcos Alonso.

The next player that he wants to commit his future at Stamford Bridge is Rudiger and the defender is likely to accept the offer within the new couple of weeks.

Rudiger managed to get his name on the scoresheet against Manchester United in the 2-2 draw earlier this month and helped the Blues keep a clean sheet yesterday in their convincing 4-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Rudiger found it hard to settle in at the club under Antonio Conte but since Sarri took over, he has been playing with immense confidence and happiness.
