Russia 2018 draw: No escape for Eagles —Rohr

Nigeria’s Head coach, Gernot Rohr, says there is no possibility of the Super Eagles being handed an easy Russia 2018 World Cup draw on Friday.

The draw for the Russia showpiece takes place at, the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow. in four days time and when asked by Le But what sort of group he will like to play, the Franco-German replied: ‘I think this kind of question should be asked from Russia (host) and Germany (the defending champions). As part of the Nigerian team, I know we will be in a tough group.

‘’ There is no chance Nigeria will be grouped with mascots, I still know it is going to be tough because I have a tough team and moreso, you don’t go the the World Cup and expect a tourist’treat’’

Rohr added that though Nigeria were no favourites, it behoves the Eagles to get a good campaign in Russia.

‘’It is always difficult in Africa to navigate through qualifiers and when you have a team that did that without losing any game, then we can be proud of what we have been able to do.’’

However, Germany’s coach, Joachim Lowe is desperately looking forward to the draw.

Low led Germany to win the title in 2014 in Brazil and says what happens on Friday matters to him a lot.

‘The draw is important in many ways but let me say we need to see what happens at the Palace in Moscow. In football, there is a luck of the draw and I pray for one. I am looking forward to a situation where we will return with the title after Russia 2018 World Cup’’.
