The proposed international friendly between Nigeria and Chile has been called off, according to reports.
The Super Eagles were billed to play the South Americans ahead of the World Cup, but the games has now been called off on the insistence of coach Gernot Rohr, who believes it will be too close to the tournament and he is therefore apprehensive of players getting injured in such a game, ScoreNigeria claims.
NFF bosses had claimed the Eagles will take on Chile in their last friendly on June 9 during their training camp in Austria.
An official has now said the game has been called off at the instance of Rohr, who is worried of any injuries to key stars just before the World Cup kicks off on June 14.
The Eagles confirmed World Cup warm-up games are – vs Poland (March 23), vs Serbia (March 27), vs DRC (May 28) and vs England (June 2) and vs Czech Republic (June 6).
Meanwhile, new Super Eagles’ World Cup jersey is thrilling Bursarspor of Turkey defender, Abdullahi Shehu, who said the beautifully designed kits give him joy.
Ironically, Abdullahi was an home- based player four years ago where he was one of three players used to launch the then kits worn to the last World Cup in Brazil 2014.
The former Kano Pillars player took to the social media to express his delight with the New Jersey, whilst giving kudos to the NFF and Nike.
“I’m in love with our new @NGSuperEagles @FIFAcom World Cup kits. Kudos @nikefootball and @thenff.#RussiaMood#SoarSuperEagles,” Abdullahi tweeted.
