The doting parents of Nigeria forward Alex Iwobi arrived in Volgograd on Wednesday night ahead of their son’s World Cup game against Iceland on Friday.
The player’s father, Chuka, his mother, Amaka, and his sister, Marie, came into the city via an Aeroflot flight from Moscow, reports FCNaija.com.
They will be cheering for their son in a game that the Super Eagles need at least a draw in order to keep alive their World Cup hopes.
Nigeria lost 2-0 against Croatia in their opening game in Kaliningrad last Saturday with many fans criticising coach Gernot Rohr for deploying Alex in a more defensive role.
But the German praised the 22-year-old for maintaining a balance between his offensive and defensive play.
The Nigeria squad will arrive in Volgograd on Thursday afternoon ahead of Friday’s game.
