NIGERIA’S Head coach, Gernot Rohr, is using his connections to land two friendly games with France and Germany, Tribunesport has gathered.
Rohr, being Franco-German is said to have opened negotiations with the two countries on the two friendly games in March during the next FIFA window.
This is just possible after the Confederation of African Football, CAF agreed with Nigeria to shift Afcon 2019 qualifiers from March to enable African flagbearers to use the FIFA March Window to test their teams against top-rated World Cup teams.
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is expected to make public the France and Germany friendlies after the World Cup draw had been made on December 1 in Moscow.
”The only snag is if both countries are drawn in the same group as Nigeria” the NFF source told Tribunesport on Sunday.
Under Serbian coach, Bora Milutinovic, Nigeria played against Germany in an international friendly in Cologne on April 22 1988, just months before the France 98 World Cup in France. Germany triumphed by a lone goal.
The Eagles under the late Amodu Shuaibu, ther Eagles beat France by a lone goal in an international friendly played in Saint Ettiene on June 2 2009.
However, the fresher of the memory is that the Tricolours edged Nigeria out of Brazil 2014 World Cup trouncing the Super Eagles 2-0 from goals from Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann.
