Salah is Egypt’s greatest ever player ―Mido

Former Egypt striker Mido has insisted that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is the country’s greatest ever player.

Mido, who won 51 international caps, also believes that the Premier League’s top goalscorer with 30 goals should play for Real Madrid.

Salah scored his 40th goal in all competitions during the Reds’ 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Fellow countryman Mido did concede that he was unsure when Salah returned to the English top-flight last summer for £39million following his disappointing spell at Chelsea.

“Real Madrid want him, and we have all seen the poor performances of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema with the 4-4-2,” Mido told King Fut.

“We could see how strong he was mentally with the way he handled himself when he didn’t play at Chelsea.”

Salah is only the third Liverpool player to hit the 40-goal mark and the first since Ian Rush in 1986-87.

The 25-year-old is also aiming to topple the Welshman and score another eight before the end of the campaign — to break the record for most goals in a season (47) that Rush achieved in 1983-84.
