According to the ‘Daily Mail’, the deal to bring the Egyptian to the club is believed to be worth up to £39million, which would be a new transfer record for Liverpool, surpassing the £35 million spent on Andy Carroll in 2011.
The 25-year-old winger travelled to Merseyside on Tuesday and is said to be undergoing a medical today as the deal moves closer to completion.
Liverpool and Roma have been locked in talks for almost a month, with an opening offer of around £28million being rejected out of hand by the Italians.
However, a compromise has been reached and Salah, who turned down a move to Liverpool before joining Chelsea in 2014, looks set to join Jurgen Klopp’s side. With reports indicating that Liverpool will double his wages to £90,000 per week.
The winger was in sensational form for Roma last year, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists in 41 games in all competitions.
