Salah vows not to get roped into a UCL final battle with Ronaldo

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has insisted he will not be roped into a personal battle with Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League final.

The two players have no doubt been the star players for their sides this season, especially in the Champions League.

That has lead to suggestions that it could become a battle of those two in the final this season.

Though, Salah has made it clear that it will not be him and Ronaldo in the limelight.

Rather, it will be about playing as a team and that the Egyptian would not be able to do it alone.

“It is not going to be a final between Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo,’ said Salah.

“I am playing for a great club, and we have great players, so qualifying to the final came with great teamwork, that I cannot do it alone.

Cristiano Ronaldo during the UEFA Champions League Quarter Final Leg One match between Juventus and Real Madrid at Allianz Stadium on April 3, 2018 in Turin, Italy.

“I know all of the Arab people wish the best for me. They want me to win the Ballon d’Or and they are happy every time I win. But now at the moment, I am only thinking about the final and to bring the trophy to Anfield.”

When asked about Liverpool’s defensive frailties against Roma on Wednesday, Salah dismissed suggestions they were weak against the Italian giants.

“Of course not. It is collective work. When we score a goal it’s because we are all doing good. When we concede, it means we all need to work harder.”
