Alexis Sanchez will become the Premier League’s top earner if he seals his proposed move to Manchester United.
United are believed to be close to sealing a £35million move for the Chile forward and, according to Chilean outlet El Mercurio the 29-year-old will earn £350,000 a week.
Paul Pogba is currently the league’s top earner on a reported £290,000 a week, but Sanchez’s deal will comfortably top that.
The report says United also plan to hand the club’s iconic No.7 shirt worn by the likes of George Best, Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo to the Arsenal man.
The hold up on the deal, per the source, is that Henrikh Mkhitaryan remains reluctant to join the Gunners. The Armenia man s “not very enthralled” by the prospect of signing for Arsene Wenger’s men.
Manchester City meanwhile have not given up hope on signing Sanchez and Pep Guardiola and chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak, chief executive Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain are set to meet this afternoon to discuss their next move.
Their offer is believed to be short of the £35million that United have lodged, and their personal terms are also inferior to those of their rivals. However, given Sanchez’s desire to sign for City in August they are pondering improving their offer to Arsenal and the player.
