Sanusi, Sunday win Extreme Manufacturing Caddies golf tourney

Isa Sanusi and Oluwole Sunday are winners of the of Extreme Manufacturing Caddies golf competition played at Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Onireke, Ibadan.

Sanusi won in the senior category with 80 Gross while Oluwole claimed winner in the Junior category with 95 Gross.

Speaking after his presentation Sanusi thanked the organiser for giving him and his colleagues the opportunity to showcase their talents, while assuring them of good ambassadors of IGC.

He appealed to other corporate organisations to emulate Extreme Manufacturing Nigeria Limited to sponsor tournaments in order to promote their brands.

Cordinator of the one-day competition, Bernard Nduka, urged the caddies to be focused, saying golf is a game of integrity that can place them on the right path.

“Extreme Manufacturing Nigeria Ltd organised this competition to give back to the society as part of their corporate social responsibility. We did the competition for caddies here because they are also very important in every golf tournament and also contribute to our playing on the course.

“We want to give these young men and women a sense of belonging, we see them as part of us and that is why we thought of it to put these together and say thank you to them for being our caddies.

“I believe they have gained one or two things from the competition and I will encourage them to be a good golfer because you will realise that over 90 percent of the golf professionals in Nigeria are made up of former caddies, so we want to bring the best out of them to become professionals.”

Earlier in his address, second vice captain of Ibadan Golf Club, Mr Wale Oshigbohun, thanked the company for hosting the caddies, as he noted that the memory of the competition would last long in their memory.

“This is the maiden edition and the competition will be a continuous one come next year.

“We have a lot of organisations that are really corporate members of IGC. When you look at the caddies, they are the one supporting us whenever we are playing and the organiser felt it’s time to give back to them in appreciating what they’ve been doing and that is the essence of this competition.

“We want to encourage them to become good professional golfers because this is an avenue for them to discover themselves. Once you are a good golfer and you finish your school, the sponsor can engage them, those are the little things to support them in future,” he said.
