Inter Miami- boundLionel Messi has gifted his close friend and former teammate Neymar a trophy that he received from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) president Nasser Al-Khelaifi prior to Messi’s final game for the club.
Messi bid farewell to his PSG career after a 3-2 defeat against Clermont Foot at the Parc des Princes on the last day of the 2022/23 season. Although the outcome was disappointing for the Parisian side, it had no impact on their consecutive Ligue 1 title triumphs.
Before the match, PSG president Al-Khelaifi entered the dressing room and presented Messi with a golden trophy featuring the number 30, which Messi had worn during his two-year tenure at the club. Sergio Ramos, who also departed the club during the summer, received a similar tribute.
However, it was Neymar who ultimately ended up with the trophy. The Brazilian international auctioned the item to benefit his foundation in Brazil, dedicated to assisting underprivileged children. The golden trophy earned €158,000 and was purchased by streamer Casimiro, who will additionally enjoy two complimentary nights in a luxurious residence and a dinner with actress Deborah Secco.
While Messi has departed PSG and is on the verge of joining Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami, Neymar’s future with PSG remains uncertain.
The arrival of Luis Enrique at the Parc des Princes could potentially bode well for the Brazilian forward, as he previously worked with the Spanish coach during their time together at Barcelona.
