Udinese coach, Kosta Runjaic has singled out Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye for praise following his side’s 2-0 Serie A victory over Genoa, describing the match as one of the most intense of the season and crediting the entire team, from attackers to goalkeeper, for their disciplined defensive display.
Second-half goals from Jurgen Ekkelenkamp and Keinan Davis secured the result as Udinese claimed an away win despite facing early pressure from the hosts.
Runjaic, speaking on the club’s official website, was effusive about the collective effort that earned the clean sheet.
“Everyone defended well, from the attackers all the way up to Okoye. It was one of the most intense matches of the season,” he said.

The coach also acknowledged that Genoa could not sustain the pressure they had built up early in the match, crediting his side for staying focused in key moments.
“They couldn’t maintain that level of energy throughout the match. We stayed focused, and in the end, we could have even done better in transition,” he added.
The performance comes at a timely moment for Okoye, who missed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) but has now been recalled to Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Iran and Jordan in Antalya, Turkey, later this month.
