In a historic achievement Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has become the first African footballer to win the Capocannoniere title.
During Napoli’s 2-0 victory over Sampdoria on Sunday, Osimhen scored his 26th goal of the Serie A season.
Despite the champions dominating possession and creating numerous chances, they were initially unable to find the back of the net. Osimhen attempted three shots during the match, but unfortunately, none of them resulted in a goal.

However, Napoli started the second half strongly, and in the 64th minute, Osimhen made the breakthrough. The 24-year-old striker was fouled in the box, winning a penalty. He confidently converted from close range, making it 1-0 for Napoli. This goal also marked his 26th of the season.
Osimhen was substituted in the 76th minute, making way for Giovanni Simeone, who later sealed Napoli’s victory with a goal in the 87th minute.
With an impressive tally of 26 goals, Osimhen secured the prestigious Capocannoniere award, becoming the first African player to achieve this feat.
