Akinwunmi, Azeez re-elected LSFA chairman, vice respectively

The incumbent chairman, Lagos State Football Association, (LSFA) has been re-elected the chairman of the board.

Akinwunmi, who also doubles as 1st Vice President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), polled 9 votes to defeat Gafar Liameed CEO 36 Lions who polled 4 votes.

Earlier in the first election, Akinwunmi polled 7 votes while Liameed polled 6 but the election has to be decided through re-run.

Otunba Tade Azeez retained his position as vice chairman when he returned unopposed as well as Prince Ifalade Oyekan who represent Lagos Central on the board.

Mojeed Adegbindin defeated Wale Joseph 8-5 to be on the to represent Lagos East Senatorial District just as the duo of Dotun Coker and Moses Adebanjo will represent Lagos West Senatorial District .

Yemisi Cole will represent female football on the board polling 11votes while Hajia Salam polled 2 and Kemi Popoola has no votes.

Speaking after the swearing-in of the board, Akinwunmi having commended the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by other contestants said he will run an open administration, adding that his government will preach unity among all football stakeholders in the state.

“I will not say because I emerged the winner and close doors to others, but I am ready to run a government of unity and will also reach out to all concerned so as to collectively develop the game in the state and beyond,” an elated Akinwunmi said.
